Building an Entertainment Center

Got some work done today. Sun came out finally. I needed to cut the rabbet along the back edge of the sides. Using a dado blade, a feather board to keep the bookcase side tight against the table saw top and another feather board to hold the side tight against the fence.

A single pass on each side yields this:

A 5/8" rabbet along the back halfway through the plywood, to hold the 1/2" back. Once the back rabbet was cut, it was easy enough to figure out how deep the shelves need to be. There are 3 different shelf sizes. The first one is part of the face frame, the second has a 3/4" x 1 1/2" piece of maple attached to it, but sits behind the face frame, and the last has a 3/4"x1/4" piece of maple to cover the plywood edge. The last piece is behind the door on the bookcase. Here's a shelf getting it's 3/4"x1/4" maple piece glued to it:

You can see off to the right of the picture, the 3/4"x1 1/2" pieces for the other shelves. After a bit here's all the shelves that need glued up before assembling the bookcases:

I used all the small parallel jaw clamps I had in the shop and had to use a few of the longer sizes as well. I'll let these sit overnight (a couple of hours should be enough, but I need to mow the lawn today). I also sanded the sides. Tomorrow I'll unclamp these, sand them, put the roundover on the fronts and glue up the bookcases.
