Back to top Making the raised panels doors. The upper ones are arched like
this one:
The lower drawers and doors aren't arched. Here are a bunch of doors that have been glued up. Only the rails and stiles get glued together, the center panels float so the wood can expand and contract.
While the doors and drawer fronts are drying I installed the back on the TV cabinet. Here you can really see where its notched to fit in the cubby in the wall.
Doors and drawer fronts are all dry.
Start work on the mantel piece. Here the front of it is glued up. Its also raised panels to match the doors and drawers.
Here's a door installed on one of the bookcases.
Here is a drawer that's dry fit together. The dovetails are a little long. They'll get trimmed down after being glued up.
Here the drawers are glued up and clamped to dry.
After the drawers are dry, I sanded the pins and tails flush and installed the drawer glides. 100 pound, full extension, self-closing slides. I'm using a jig to position the drawer glide.
Installed piano hinges to attach the bifond doors together and then hinges to mount them to the cabinet.
Finish sanded everything, installed the drawers and loaded up the truck, off to install. The first day of installation we got the cabinets positioned. Need some sheetrock work before we continue.
The second day of installation the mantel is mounted and the cornice is installed. Need the crown molding installed, some dry wall work, painting and tile work around the fireplace. Since I'm not good and most of those, we're sub-bing them out.
